Rear cylinder head gasket fault
« on: June 11, 2024, 07:50:35 AM »

The other day I noticed oil on the transmission top cover when I was out.
I got home and found its from the rear cylinder head gasket.

I had done work on the heads in November 23 and installed Cometic top end gasket kit.

It's not till now I remember there was a recall on the rear cylinder head gasket,  due to oil leakage ( that what's happening now) was a thicker gasket used to remedy the fault?

If so would anyone know what thickness is required?

If I recall I installed  .030"   any part number would help,....Cheers for any input  :2vrolijk_21:

Hi Pete,
How you doing, Let me guess it was primary oil and it was leaking through your starter motor, bad O ring inside starter motor?
Had it myself.

Hi Mark,   no buddy.  It was from the rocker plate assembly gasket and dripping off coolant fins. Had used Cometic gasket. Wasn't to sure about them when I fitted them.  Now I've gone back to the sealant coated gasket.
All's good mate. Cheers,
