Battery Removal Side Effects ?
« on: September 25, 2008, 10:16:18 PM »

2008 SEUC

UPS just delivered my PCIII and a quick read through of the instructions indicates that they want me to completely disconnect the battery.  I'm wondering about the effects on things like the security system, bag autolocks, radio station preselects, Nav System setup, clock setting, etc.

Do I have to go through the process of setting all these things up again if I disconnect the battery?

I'm particularly worried about the 'remarry' process for the security and bag lock fobs -- I'm not sure if I've seen that documented in the owners manual or not.

I know from previous experience you'll have to reset your radio stations, and clock. Can't answer for all the others though. :nixweiss:

I know from previous experience you need to read the owners manual carefully to avoid setting off your alarm.  I learned the loud, embarrassing way.  Once set off, you have no options other then waiting an excruiating 10 minutes for it to stop the cycle of blasting your ears and waking the neighbors.

The owners manual explains pretty clearly how to avoid this...

When we installed my PCIII we didn't disconnect the battery, everything was fine.

I've installed many Power Commanders and never disconnected the batteries and never had a problem.

I think that is a CYA demanded by the lawyers.

Ever notice in all the HD pubs that the first thing they say is disconnect the battery to prevent accidental startup which can result in injury or death.
