New Lifters & Pushrods
« on: November 11, 2008, 09:41:53 PM »

After my cam change one of my andrews pushrods broke so i replaced them with the s/eagle pushrods. There was considerable more clatter in the top end and i decided i would replace the lifters. I bought a set ot the AMS lifters after reading great reviews.  After pulling out the s/eagle pushrods i could see where they were contacting the box. I replaced them with the new version s/eagle tapered pushrods. Its a totally different sounding engine now, smooth and quiet

The upper pushrod shows no witness marks but the lower 3 show them.    :nixweiss:

Noticed that also and thought it odd.  Would expect perhaps paired problems in some combination.  But this seemed odd.  It's fixed now though.  He's happy so we're happy.  It's all good :bananarock: .

Well, OK Bob and Don........you caught the technical details too, but I was actually referring to the departure from usual VANAMAL picture formatting.  Historically there have been one or two eye pleasing additions in the pictures he posts.   :2vrolijk_21:

After first doing the 575's and adjusting the pushrods about 10 different ways with no noise effect, I remember my front pushrods looking like that but never thought anything about it.  You couldn't even catch the marks with a finger nail.  Never did do anything about it.  if i have to do anything again, I will get the SE tapered pushrods (have fat S&S now).  Has been over 20,000 miles ago with no metal on the drainplug at oil changes.

Maybe Van's just being a good boy and following the new post-modern (post--- get it :huepfenlol2: ) site guidelines where bootylishness is concerned?  Or maybe Freud was right and sometimes a pushrod is just a pushrod :nixweiss: ?

I believe the pushrods actually hit where the pushrods enter the bottom of the cyl head and not actually the tube.    :nixweiss:

NO Marks on the tubes. looks like it was hitting at head. also mostly on the front cyl.
