Oil Filter Inspection
« on: September 07, 2005, 12:18:07 PM »

With all of the talk here about cam shoes I thought i'd post a link to a good article on inspecting your oil filter:

It seems a quick and easy way to check for wear.

hd-dude....a great post.  I've been opening the filter on my bikes and vehicles for the past ten years or so.  I use a vise, diamond/carbide saws-all and only cut off one end beyond the element, then slide the element out for inspection.  I've saved several engines and I'm sure have avoided on the road breakdowns by catching the problem before it throws craps right at the time and place that is most inconvenient.  My schedule is every other oil change (5K).
