Factory 110 ci motor: all better for 2009?
« on: January 06, 2009, 09:49:06 AM »

I'm close to the edge of trading my 2005 SEEG for a 2009 SEUC, and I don't want to end up over a cliff. Heard about all the motor issues for 2007 and 2008. I'd like to get some feedback from anybody who owns a 2009 CVO bike, specifically if they have had any problems with the motor this year.
Or do we think the MoCo has finally resolved the lingering issues?

What I've noticed about the MoCo is that they don't go to the next step until the last one is perfected.

This is one of the funniest sentences I have read for a long time!

So far, to my knowledge, there was not a single report of a '09 110 engines failure similar to the ones we had in '07 and '08. If anyone thinks, I am wrong, please speak up!

Mine is quieter and smoother.  The piston slap isn't as bad and the valve train is certainly quieter, especially after getting the synlube crud out and refilling with Mobil 1 Vtwin..I like the close throw tranny too..all in all better so far at 2 k miles than my 07 se..oil temp dropped from 270 to 250, still too high but we have a fix for that on the shelf..

Good luck with whatever you choose

Ditto; and better frame, much better handling in curves, no more wobble, wider rear tire.
only 1400 miles on my 09 CUSE but love it way better than my 06 CUSE.

Coming from a 2005 SEEG and 2500 miles and no real problems so far..on my 2009 SEUC...

But for a full disclosure,,,,, I do have a slight little tic coming from the front cylinder valve cover at 2200 to about 2500 rpms.  The whining in first and 5th gear, can be a little annoying, but I read on this site I need to change lub and that will quite down.  Once I do something with the pipes you won't hear any of this.

The heated grips did stop working this weekend..

AH BUT THE RIDE AND THE HANDLING ARE FINALLY WONDERFUL!!!!!

I like this bike soooo much better than ANY bike I have owned thus far...

GOOD LUCK

I'm only at 1,000 miles without issues so it's still too early to tell for sure. Ask me again in August.  The chassis improvements implemented across the touring line provide far superior handling to the former model years without question. If you're in doubt, ride an '09 and feel the difference for yourself.

I forgot how good they ride, got stuck on road resurfacing ruts, had wobble n sway but I had to wait for the others when I got to the end, just mosyed on down the rode, big difference on steel grating over bridges too..

Just need some Progressive IAS rear shocks to finish it up, no need for traxxion down here...
