oil changes

I think this has been a topic before but i couldnt find it.

How often do you change oils  (I am still running syn3 in all 3 holes)
1. engine
2. trans
3. primary

My first change was 1600km (1000mile)
I have just hit 4000km (2400mile) & noticed I needed a top up (engine oil) went to the stealer & the parts guy thought with the syn3 my next change should be 8000km (4800mile) but I thought rather than just top it up I would change it now along with the filter. Wow! syn3 & filter $102.00

Aussie,

I would not use Syn 3 in the tranny, go with Red Line Heavy Shock Proof in the transmission, it a a transmission specific tranny lubricant and I would use Red Line MTL in the Primary.

And stick with the HD Syn 3 in your crankcase, only.

Their has been numerous discussions of why not to use Harley Syn 3 in the transmission. Do a search for previous posts. And/or go to Google and search for Harley Tech Talk, they have also had this discussion.

Many members of this board as myself are also members on Harley Tech Talk, do not remember website, as I have it saved under "Favorites"

Mike...I change engine oil (Mobil 1 V-Twin) every 2500 miles, primary (HD Primary) 5000 miles and Trans (Redline Shockproof Heavy) twice a year.

Check in the Twin Cam posts, just noticed the various posts on different lubricants.

I push it farther than you do Brian.  I do Amsoil in the engine and change it in the spring (regardless of miles) for the new season than every 5k.  Do the primary at 10k and the tranny and fork oil (same gear oil you use for the tranny) once a year regardless of mileage.
