Headlight question
« on: March 07, 2010, 11:01:13 PM »

Hey guys..

Quick question....

I took my fairing off and recently reinstalled it but i forgot the correct way the high and low beams get connected???  Is the high beam the top connector or bottom on the headlight assembly??

I have a 2006 SEUC..   It is not marked on the headlight assembly that is attached to the fairing which one is high or low. Only the plugs are marked high and low.

The way I hooked it up now is when the low beams are on, the bottom part of the main headlight comes on and the spots are on.   When I put on the high beams the entire main light is on and the spots go off.

I hope I am making sense....

Also is it possible to make all lights on when high beams are turned on??  instead of spots going off with high beams on?

Thanks
Mike

The large area light is the low beam (top bulb), the smaller circle is the high beam (bottom bulb).

Just unbolt the headlight from the front The whole headlight will come out of the fairing

Yes it can, it is all done on the accy. switch panel. With Jims guides I did it and loved the results. Remember, if your bike is sitting and in the accy. position so you have music while working you have to turn the acc switch off as your spots will be on and drain the battery quickly.

???? The passing lamp switch still works to turn them off doesn't it?  And it does not appear that power for the spots is passing through the acc switch but merely tapping  in to the same power lead that comes in to the acc switch????

No, the spots are on all the time. This modification is so you have ALL lights on on hi-beam, not turning off spots while on hi-beam. Don't know why the moco did that, but at night here in the desert I can see. The way I wired them is the way Jim's photo shows and they turn off with the acc switch. Did I do it wrong? It is my way!

Don't know????  Have not done it yet so just wondering????  What I thought (and could be wrong) is that the modification simply allowed spots to be on (even with high beam) but that they would still be controlled thru the spotlight switch.  Jim????

You are correct, I misunderstood. The spot switch, and the acc. switch will turn them off. I think. Just covered the bike up for awhile so I can't check for sure. A little surgery tomorrow will have us off for a spell.
