Help me understand this.
You removed the stock header, cut the plate out of side where the cat is, chiseled out the cat, welded the plate back, re-installed the header and did all this in about an hour?
WhooHoo, your good!
I'm impressed.

Okay maybe 1 1/2 hours tops.

I've gotten pretty quick taking on and off headers on the Streetglide. That took the majority of the time. Cutting the plate, knocking out the cat and welding it back up took no time at all. It helps when you have the right tools at your disposal. As well as a great welder buddy who can lay down a perfect bead.

It was super easy and well worth the $300+ in savings over a new header.

Well i talked to a guy who owns a small Harley shop in town and i am on a list to get my bike exhaust done :2vrolijk_21: What he said he is going to do is,put on a vance and hines fuel programmer i think that's what he said. He stated one of biggest reasons it is so hot is that harley programs them on the lean side for fuel and that makes them run hotter. Next he is going to take what needs to come out of the mufflers and i will be there at that point so i can tell him where i want the sound to be :-\ He has been in bussiness for 28years so i feel confident with this choice and i will post everything when it is completed and the part i like best he said $375 ;D can't wait.

You're leaving the stock head pipe in place, though?

This: :-\ does not say "confidence." ???

yes leaving the stock head pipe and changing the fuel programmer and the confused face is because don't relly know how loud i want it to be. My other bikes had the v&h pro pipe and other had longshots.

Adding more fuel to a bike with the Catalytic Converter still in the system is not a good idea, IMO.

Also, IMO, the V&H Fuelpak is not the best solution.  It's an "old school" device that is basically just adjustable pots to add more fuel and that's all.  It's like tweaking an old carburator by changing jet sizes.  Basically you are totally defeating the ability of your bike to adjust for things like fuel quality, which you paid for.  It might get the job done, but it would be on the bottom of my list of things to do to cool the bike down.  It is a "piggyback" device that modifies the signal to the ECM and tells it to add more fuel regardless of the circumstances.

For another $250 you can get something that is light years beyond a Fuelpak.  It is not necessary to totally defeat the operation of the fuel management system you paid for to have a good running and somewhat cooler running bike.  For <$1100 you can have an exhaust system and engine management device that will do a much better job in the long run, and maintain the functionality of the bike's closed loop fuel management system.

Hey, he said he was "confident"..... :nixweiss:
On the other hand, he IS asking (I think) for some feedback from those who have been down that road.
We have a local member here who was "confident" with a full system (similar to what I have) until she talked to a "local wrench".......NOW she isn't so "confident"......more like "confused" !
Sometimes you have to wonder how a $375 upgrade can solve all the issues with hot running, poor tuned stock bikes?
I guess you take your chances, pay your $$ and live with what you were so "confident" with.
I'm not on anyone's payroll, I don't care about much about how "low priced" something is, I WILL buy something I believe is quality, price be damned, as long as it works as advertised.
If someone asks me what I run on a bike, I'll tell them. I also tell them what works for me may not work for THEM. But, hey, you asked!
This forum is great for sharing what works and what doesn't. It helped me make decisions on some cams, and that has worked out great for us.
I won't bash any mfg. or shop, I just won't recommend them to my friends and club members.
JMHO, now for a beer! :drink:

IMO, you would be correct. Cats work by heating up and burning the HC's passing through......if you have an overly rich mixture, it will tend to get even hotter to take care of the unburned HC's

I will do the complete set up in the spring. And a special thanks to Hogmike and Midnight Rider who took the time to email me info, sometimes you have to listen to experience and pay the price once and be done. Thanks for lookin out for another rider :2vrolijk_21:

Well with the help of a good friend Mark Wargosie who is a true gearhead, we had the stock baffles out and the new ones installed and on bike about two hours :bananarock: Well all the guys who swear by Steve at Fullsac put me on board!!! What a world of difference the sound is exactly where i wanted it, the 2.25 louder baffles, the sound is incredible. When you crack it she talks and when your rollin along just a sweet sound i could not be more happy :) And best of all everyone was right did not have to change anything and i'm not cooking my leg anymore.

Fullsac is awesome, I used stage II package.  I have the "C" version x pipe with their 2.25 inch HP cores.  The performance is great and it looks completely stock.  I put 4,000 miles on my bike with no performance issues at all.  The heat is still there but no like it was.  All that said I recently switched out my mufflers and went with CFR's (I wanted a much deeper sound).  Now I have the performance I wanted and the sound.  Dont get me wrong the Fullsac 2.25 work really well just simply not the sound I was after.
