There is a method to my madness. I put stuff I want (especially from the MoCo) on a wishlist. Then when local dealers have a sale or I get enough on the list to qualify for significant savings from one of the online dealers that offer 20% discount I place an order. I like getting the most bang for my buck. I've been playing the "OCD" game for a while and have learned for the most part I can wait. Another thing is as long as I have stuff to do to this bike I don't feel like it's time to get a new one.

Good Logic.....like is have said before, I am learning a lot here.  I am gleaning many things from this vast pool of wisdom :znotworthy:.

Funny you should mention the online dealers; I was just looking for saddle bag rails that I saw a few days ago and found that Suburbanharley.com and Surdyke.com are cheaper than the two local dealers here (and I get a 10% discount from one of the dealers).  Do you recommend any of the online dealers?

There are several mentioned in this post/thread - Vendor, Mftr or Support Points of Contact. I have personally used Chicago H-D to receive the 20% discount. :2vrolijk_21: You may want to read that entire thread as there may be other vendors that offer discounts that interest you.

Just a heads up on the on-line dealers.  When comparing prices, look at the total price including shipping and taxes.  For example, Zanotti's used to have the lowest pricing among the 4 dealers I would normally check.  This year, however, while the initial price is still low they have jacked up the shipping/handling charges to the point that now they often have the highest total price.

So true. :2vrolijk_21: You have to look at total cost to your door. Most of the on-line dealers don't charge you tax, but you have to get the total cost before you buy to get a good comparison of prices.

lRebel,

Where did you get the windshield...what size is it? does it come with orange flames?

Since that windshield has the "Bar and Shield" logo on it I'm thinking it is this one - Flamed Electra Glide® Windshield P/N 57776-04 from the MoCo. I do like the way you think about the orange flames. :2vrolijk_21:

Ed,
Yes, it is HD.  As far as I know, it only comes with the silver flames and it is a 12 inch windshield.  The original windshield was a 10 inch & I didn't like getting hit in the face with rain.

Has anyone tried or seen the hew Harley Smoked Tail Light part number 68087-08 in action. I like the looks of the tail light but I don't want something that's not as bright as stock light. Any comments?

Yep, got it on the green bike.  Love it.  Way brighter than stock.......and it really lights up the plate.

Henry,
You might want to go back to stock once you get that "Rocket" back. Might not want the authority's to be able to read your license that well. ;) ;D

Gary,
When I was in the Army, we flew with night vision devices.  We used to put 100mph tape over the nav lights, so they wouldn't create halos, or worse.....blank the tubes.  Point is, I'll tape it!   :2vrolijk_21: :P

They make a black one too.  That'll go well with the blackout theme I have planned for the Sporty.  It is now on order from Zanotti's.
