Now, the tight, precise handling that I fell in love with when I first go the bike is back again.

I agree in theory, however, it seems that the degradation of the rubber mount system (both front and rear) of the dresser frame happens rapidly and frequently.  While I usually do not advise a "band aid" fix, the time and cost associated with the constant up keep is a pain to say the least.

Also, the inventor of True-Trak would indicate that the bagger rubber mount system does in fact have a design defect.  That is, HD didn't see fit to put a lateral mount to control side to side movement of the swingarm rubber bushing (no matter what condition they are in).  He goes on to say that the old FXR rubber mount frame does have this mount and ehibits none of the inherent "rear steer" of the baggers.

Either way, I still keep an eye on the tightness and condition of the rubber mounts and have a crisp handling motorcycle again.

Having given it some thought, I personally think that it is a design defect of this particular frame, but for the sake of arguement, lets assume it is a wear condition.  Because the True-Trak controls lateral movement, I believe that your first statement would be more correct.  It stops the movement (and thus the premature wear) on the swingarm bushings.

Certainly, the rear steer is more evident during aggessive riding.  Is it actual wear of the rubber bushings?  Hmmm, maybe not.  Perhaps compression and re-compression of these bushings will cause some "softening" of material.

Of course, the front mount is subject to the effects of oil impregnation during oil changes but that's another subject.

Another arguement that it is a design defect is the fact that the new rubber mount Sporty frame includes lateral support of the rear mount.  I think maybe HD is learning.

Ride-Str8 + STA-BO + Centrestand
« Reply #25 on: August 08, 2005, 09:04:22 PM »

Hi,

Just my 2 cents...
I fitted the Ride-Str8, very straight forward to install + competent & professional customer service is available from the manufacturer.

I'm also looking to install a centrestand & with this set up it does allow for it to be fitted, see thread;

http://flhrsei.org/cgi-bin/yabb/YaBB.cgi?board=g1;action=display;num=1123548482

I have a related question... there's a company called STA-BO c/-

http://www.sta-bo.com/

Does anyone have any feedback on having both the STA-BO bushes & the Ride-Str8 installed?
Any advice/opinions?

Cheers.
