2005 Stock Muffler Photo / Info
« on: August 26, 2008, 03:31:53 PM »

Does anyone have a picture of stock mufflers on their 2005 SEUC?  Trying to identify some used pipes.

Part numbers?

Thanks in advance.

The HD part numbers are 65254-00A and 65254-00B stamped on them.

Can anybody give me some insight to what these pipes are like.  Considering using them on a new '09 UC.

Looking for a little more "quality sound" not so much volume.

What you have are 65259-00 HD Touring Mufflers, you have listed the individual part numbers, 65259-00 is the kit number for a pair, they were  OEM on the 05 SE Ultra, I have attached a picture of a set from an 04 SE RK, They should be less restrictive then your OEM mufflers.

Dartman,

Thanks for the info.

Do you have any thoughts on whether these would offer decent performance on a new '09 motor.  I would expect that they would be quiet, but maybe a deeper little roar compared to my '09 stockers?

They should perform just fine, Sound is a very subjective matter, I had a set on my 07 SE 110 Ultra, they did have a nice muted tone when under a load, very quiet at idle speeds, Your CVO mufflers with the cats removed should have a little more rumble if you still have them.

Hey, you remember!

Funny thing is I gave those to my best friend, whom I am really doing this post for.  I kept getting run off the road with the CVO's during commuting.

I gave them to him when I found my 65115-98b's that I love.

He likes them to some degree, but want a little more sound AND wants to hear the radio on his new UC.  He is talking to Fulsac right now and they sell a 1.75" re-core kit that he is considering doing to the CVO's.  Any thoughts on that?

The recores might be fine, but I hate the thought of putting that much money into them and still having the (IMHO)cheap looking stock muffler body. I have a set of the Newer SE Mufflers, Screamin' EagleĀ® Street Performance Slip-On Mufflers - One Piece - Slash Down, that do not compare to your 98b's but are throatier then the  OEMs

My friend is very partial to the 4" CVO mufflers on his new Ultra.  He loves the look.  The re-core kit is $119 and money is not an issue.  Plus he is a pretty good wrench and doesn't mind the project.

Thanks again for you help.
