Enough Nige, enough! Before I head for the rafters with a rope. Surely there can't be anything left to say.

Thanks for all the input guys - and for the laughs on the way.

Question on a old topic....

Seems like the part # was 46287-04.  Called harley and they said 46316-04 was the one for the 2008 SERK... Both are on page 399.

To get this right,  I can leave them unlocked and use them like normal or lock them and the lid wont open

I did the locks on my 08 FLHRSE4 and they work great. The lock replaces the button so you not only lock the lid but lock the bag to the bike. I haven't figured out how to do a link here yet but do a search for saddlebag locks and there is a good article on that. OH, Hoist, I taked to you about bars a while ago. I got the new bars on the bike and love em. I did the 10" mini apes, 515s? anyway they worked out real well, Thanks again for ythe info.

I did it myself with the help from an article here. My locks replace the push buttons. I had to remove the push buttons and fit the locks into the old opening. I would have to go take a peek at mine to refresh my memory but if I recall, it wasn't too bad. The angle turns out good for accessing the lock and the key works well. I ordered mine so the saddlebag locks match the bike, only have to carry one key. The lock cylinder has to be pressed to unlatch the bag and the lock button is a little small and stiff. I don't have any problems but my wife sometimes can't get it pressed. Like I said, do a search for saddlebag locks and a good article will come up. I will see if I still have my instruction sheet and all.
