Crushed Fender
« on: February 27, 2009, 01:34:13 PM »

Well the new fender lasted two months.  I was waiting at a red light yesterday some idiot decides to put his truck in reverse at the light.  I was able to hold the bike up so the fender is the only that got hurt.  I'm just pissed.   :soapbox:  If these idiots would only look where they're going and yada yada yada..................

Well that sucks!  The good part is that you didn't drop the bike.  I've been waiting for a front fender for the pumpkin since the end of October  :nixweiss:

I think I'll try the Kustom Baggers "wrapper" fender this time.  Glad I still have the stock fender.  Looking around $800 or so.

Dean.

A good friend of mine up in the Chicago area totaled his Wing about the same way.

He was at a light behind a semi rig and the light was a very long light.  My buddy was looking to his left because of some commotion going on and then he felt something on the handlebars.  He looked forward and the semi was backing up and already has his front tire trapped.  He couldn't go to the left into oncoming traffic so he rolled off to the right and was almost run over in the through lane.  The bike was totaled before he could get the trucker to stop.

The trucker told him that the light was so long that he was just going to back up and turn around in a drive.  When the police got there, the trucker told them that a car in front if him was backing up and he didn't want to get hit by the car so he started to back up.  What a crock....

My buddy was quite a ways behind the truck, but in the city with all the noise and goings on, he was distracted just enough to lose his bike.

It pays to stay alert...

Lucky for you it was just a fender and nothing more.

Holy Chit, Dean - you been havin' the worst luck! At least you're not injured.

You should know how F'in stupid the drivers are here. Was it in 'the Parish' or in the city?

I hit a curb with my crash bar on the way home from the Quarter on Tuesday. OOPs! Good thing it was still the previously damaged one...

Here's a updated photo of Hayman's temporary (original) fender (taken yesterday at Northshore HD's Bayou Thunder party):
