Hard to shift into second after 1k service
« on: April 25, 2012, 04:26:34 PM »

Had my 1k service done yesterday.  :2vrolijk_21:
So with 1000 miles on the bike it will not shift into second easily.  :soapbox: Pull the shifter up and it stops at neutral. :nixweiss: A little toe wiggle and into second she goes. Rest of the gears are fine. Downshifting is smooth as well.

Dealer did want to road test it... but the weather only allowed her to go right back into the trailer to come home.

Just want to know if maybe there is adjustment i can look at before having to load my scoot back into the trailer for the 100 miles back to the dealer?

Thanks

Just had my 1000 mi service yesterday also. Now I am hearing gear slap an a lot of slack in the gear train. Also shifting is sticking on down shift, between 3&2nd &2nd to 1st. Wondering if they had different lube in drive train?   Mitch.

If this were an older bike I would suggest primary chain out of adjustment, or clutch not adjusted correctly before looking further into the tranny.   In your case you have a hydrolic clutch and I believe an auto tensioner in that 2012 if they are working correctly this shouldnt be an issue.   Who knows maybe the clutch is out of adjustment and needs to be rechecked.

Another suggestion would be Amsoil 75/90 or the 75/140, RedLine's similiar or Royal Purple in the tranny over the harley syn3.   I believe your bike has an auto tensioner in it.   At times coming down is harder for me to get to 1st where you think your in first but reality is your in 2nd at a stop light.

You could try the fluid change yourself and see if it makes improvement otherwise I would take it back to dealer and let them deal with it.

BTW did this change after the 1000 mile service or has this been an issue all along

So here's the scoop.  The tech adjusted the heel shifter, in doing so the shifter hits the floorboard, making it tough to get into second.

I am one happy dude! i took the shifter off, took my scoot for a run and it now shifts great!

Huh, didn't know that adjusting the shifter was part of the 1K check or any check for that matter. Must be a Canadian thing right?  8)

Least it was an easy fix for you.  Still recommend the fluid change to one of the ones I mentioned it will make it even quieter and smoother imo.
