Too Hot
« on: August 08, 2015, 07:32:21 PM »

I don't know about the rest of you fellas but here in east Texas it's too hot to even enjoy riding unless you do it after the sun goes down. Made a short trip to the store today at 6pm and the air temp was 101.

I was in LA and Vegas this week. Had a rental car, no bike. Drove through baker California and saw the largest thermometer in the country and it read 109*f. I stopped and got out of the car, I couldn't ride in that heat, not sure how you guys do it either?? Nice to b back in NH at a balmy 69*f

On our ride home from the Santa Fe get together we saw very high temps, 100+ at night, so we departed at 3am. When we arrived home it was 105, and it felt cool. Yep, the joy
of living 20 miles south of Mojave.

It's that daing el niƱo thing slamming us!  First we get almost 2" of rain per week in March, April, May and some of June.  Then July hits...with a vengeance.  And it hasn't let up since.
We've had temps in the 90's with heat indexes over 100 for about 5-6 weeks now I think.  And uncharacteristically high humidity.  Makes doing anything outside miserable.  Oh well.
Guess that's why they call it summer!

When you're used to the heat, you just ride in it. Every afternoon when I ride home at 4 pm, its easily over 105.

Screw riding in the 90s and above. HoneyBadger is parked til the temps are back down into the 80s. I'm too old for this chit.

I spent the ENTIRE weekend IN (not ON) Lake Lanier, floating around with friends, listening to Nau(gh)tiBadger's new killer sound system, drinking beer, and generally feeling sorry for the folks driving by on their bikes on the scorching-hot Buford Dam Road. Yeah, I was the azzhole waving at you from the water, with a beer in my hand...

Spent every weekend and holiday on Lake Lanier growing up. Parent's were part of the Houseboat crowd during the 70's that came out of Holiday marina. they would have close to 30 house boats tied together on long weekends. Good times, lots of floating and consumption of cold beer.

Oh and here in good ole Mississippi it is so dang hot you can't even turn a screw driver more than a few minutes and not be soaked in sweat from head to toe; even in the shade.  :o

Ride with some friends on Saturday from NE Tx to near San Antone and back about 800 mi temps up to 104. Mornings and evening would ease into the eighties. As I told my buddy at about 2:00.....  If we ride in this heat long enough, it'll get cool enough to ride.

Yeppers, me too. Have put about 45 hours on the boat this summer but the bike hasn't been out of the shop since early July. Guess I'm getting too old too. ( 60 ) Used to ride in the heat but it's just not any fun anymore when there's a lake house to go to.

Just got back from five days in southern AZ. Record heat last week- 116 in Phoenix when we got in, went south of Tuscon where it was 105. Spent a lot of time outside, but in the Santa Rita and Hauchuca mts so the temps were a little more moderate--90's. Of course it's dry heat. It wasn't too hot for the chiggers, however.        JoeS

Starting to cool of around here. Last weekend we took a three day ride into the mountains of Va and WV and wore jackets in the mornings. Felt great. I get uncomfortable if it gets much over 90 degrees but I will ride into the mid nineties. if it is close to 100 with the humidity ion the south I will not ride.
