Before Memorial Day or after Labor Day ride through Maine. Take US Rt 1 north from Kittery all the way to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Head west to the mountains from there as far as the Rangely Lakes region and then down to Fryeburg Me. Head into New Hampshire and the North Conway region via the Kankamagus Highway. That's about 3 days worth of the best riding you'll do anywhere

A few shots of NH, just to give an idea of the area. All taken this past November from the truck. First one 93N

These pics don't do any kind of justice to the area. When the weather is right it is really beautiful. So hope these give some kind of general idea.

Ed I love the Kank especially Bear Notch. Its the closet thing to the smokies(well kinda I guess.) I always get the rabbit shot to the ribs from the wife when I rip through it [smiley=huepfenlol2.gif].Later,Q

If you head to VT check out the Ben & Jerrys Factory tour which is just south of Stowe!!  As  a matter of fact, I think I will go have some Cherry Garcia now!

Green Mts. are in VT
White Mts. are in NH

for fall colors OCT is the rough time.

I never did say thanks for the input here, so Thanks for the input!  As we get closer to making the trip, I may come back to some of you for more info - where to stay, where to eat, etc.

Thanks again!!

If you head over the Kank toward Maine, ask for directions to Stowe corner ( Stowe ME, not Stowe VT) Stowe corner Bakery has some really incredible pie. Only thing is, you have to buy a whole pie as they don't sell individual slices. Last time I was there some years back, I ate about a third of one and gave the rest to some college kids that drove up. Kinda funny, they took the pie, said thanks, jumped in their car and drove off. I was still sittin there enjoying the day drinking some coffee and when about 15 minutes later they came back. One of em ran in the bakery and when he came out he looked at me, held up what he had in his hand and said " forks " LOL

Anyway, Stowe Corner Bakery in Stowe Maine, great pie.

I saw something on TV yesterday showing the Ben & Jerry's tour.  It said that it's the biggest tourist attraction in Vermont.
