looking for heated grips on a Street Glide
« on: September 30, 2015, 11:41:07 AM »

I was talking to a guy yesterday who was telling me that its possible to get the CVO version of heated grips like on the Roadglide or Limited for the 2015 Streetglide and they plug and play as he put it. I don't see them in Harleys catalog all I see are the universal heated grips which to my understanding work okay but are not as easy to install and don't work nearly as well as the others. Anybody know if this is correct and if so have the Harley part numbers?   TX's

You have to buy them from the regular parts catalog, there is no kit number.  The attachment is a list of the grip and end cap part numbers, along with retail prices (MSRP), for a 2015 FLHTKSE.

There are some guys on this site that have done this before btw, and I'm pretty sure there is at least one thread detailing how they did it on a 2014 if my memory hasn't failed completely.

Just installed these on my bike last weekend. work great!
http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/airflow-collection-heated-hand-grips-pa-09-56100111--1
Those look like the stock grips on my '15 which I find to be very comfortable also. I no longer feel the need to wear gloves while riding.

*side note* you're in SD and have some elaborate cooling set up to deal with the heat. What do you need heated grips for?  :P

Hello SDCVO I appreciate the info but I want to get the type that feeds inside the handle bars not wire tied to the outside and looks like those do.

Looking at them again. They are the same as the stock ones on my '15. They are internally wired.

The kit in the catalog is not intended to be wired internally, as noted in the fitment information tab.  Of course that doesn't mean people haven't done it, but it isn't a simple plug and play setup if you want to run the wires internally.  The actual grips are the same as the ones on the CVO's, just the wiring is different.

I went digging for that info and missed it.Great find (as usual) Jerry.

But now I'm curious if the SESG has the same harness as the Ultras. Wiring may already be inside the bars. Would need the grips and a power lead...

Obvious answer is I am a wuss.. To defend myself just a bit is though SD weather is great, I usually ride in the mountains (yea JC, I called them mountains..) or in the desert. One of the great things about San Diego is you are a couple of hours away from lots of different types of riding. With all that being said, yea, Im an old wuss that uses heated grips and heated gear in the winter (In SD we call anything under 60 degrees winter) and that Vestkimo cooling system in the summer (anything over 90 degrees). I gave up being a "tough guy" about 20 ears ago...

Just looking at the two bikes on one of the parts sites it appears the wiring exists for the heated grips on the FLHXSE harness just like the FLHTKSE.  The throttle sensor wiring is already set up for the grips (most likely to eliminate having two different part numbers previously).  Of course the wiring for the left grip would have to be fished through the bars and the connector for the main harness found, but it at least looks to be a "relatively" easy install.  I'm pretty certain I've read at least one post around here from someone with a late model SESG who did it this way; hopefully they will see this thread and chime in.

I hope they chime in also that'd be super helpful I'm guessing since I'm not ordering a kit but one each replacement items there will be no wiring directions provided by Harley.....

I had the 13 CVO Ultra heated grips put on my 13 CVO King.  It said they could not be wired internally.  Yet we ordered all the part numbers from the 13 CVO Ultra parts book.  The dealer wired them in the bars.  So it look like they were stock on my bike just like the ultra.
