Cobalt Blue VS Candy Cobalt
« on: February 06, 2016, 11:00:27 AM »

What is the difference between the Candy Cobalt Blue on my 07' SERK, and the Cobalt Blue i'm seeing out there?

I'd love to buy a set of inexpensive Cobalt Blue painted hard bags and have them mesh seemlessly with my Candy Cobalt paint job. But I feel like there may be more to it...

The 04 SEEG was Cobalt Blue.  When I bought my 10 SESG I was sure it was the same color of blue.  That is until I got it over to Jim's shop where I had my SEEG......and put them side by side.  An ever so slight shade difference but definately noticeable when they're side by side.

Thanks for the reply. I bet that's exactly what would happen. Anybody know what goes into repainting a set of painted hardbags? Like, prep-wise? Thinking about taking a gamble on these Ebay bags....worst case, the blue is so badly different I get them re painted....Or would it be cheaper to just buy primed bags and get them painted on there own?

Hard to say.....just have to roll the dice.  Nice looking bags in the photos.  However, they don't appear to be OEM saddlebags.  Some of the aftermarket stuff is pretty good while other aftermarket items require a lot of body prep work before painting.  These look good in the pics.  The price is sure good and for that reason, I'm surprised that they're still there.

I'm tempted because I've been looking at inexpensive unpainted bags from different sellers, and the least expensive that still look descent are like $400...Not including hardware - which is like another $100.....So for a little extra I might get lucky and have bags the same color of my bike (at the worst a little darker because no "candy" in there)....unless there's a metallic clear coat or something that a painter could spray on the current paint job to better match my paint. lol ..I know nothing of painting.

I'm just worried that a painter would cringe because he'd have to strip the current job before proceeding to do a full match - and then I end up paying big $ for that extra prep....ughhh!  :-\

Alright, so I bought some pre-painted Deep Cobalt Blue bags off a guy online. They actually look pretty darn close. Obviously, they're a bit darker, but in certain light its looks almost exact. Doesn't have the "candy" sparkle, but I'm tempted to leave the blue and just pinstripe it and add flames....Thoughts?

I think that HD uses the same paint and just gives it a different name to make it sound new and exciting.

The slight contrast looks good. Leave them, or put the silver flames on them
