I recently acquired a 2005 Screamin' Eagle Electra Glide that is a bit of project... Was sold at a large reseller, probably came from auction. No documentation other than a clean title. Bike has 58K mi, no lowers or tour pack, with evidence of right side laydown (front fender leading edge paint, front brake lever non-original replacement, rt passenger floorboard mount bent, rt saddlebag scratched along bottom edge.
Runs great with no engine noise. I have obtained a Haynes manual and a pdf owner's manual, but have not yet bit the bullet on a HD Service Manual or Supplement. I inspected the cam chain tensioners - they appear to be brand new. It has adjustable pushrods, high flow intake cleaner (in stock cover), and Rinehart 3 1/2" true duals. I see no EFI tuner, but plugs are a nice light tan and there is no hesitation and only occasional decel popping - should I assume it has had a re-map? Tires, drive belt and brakes appear new. Chrome and paint really good for the year, other than as noted previously.
Oil pressure comes up quickly when stated to 35psi at idle and 45 at 3000 rpm. Voltage indicates 12 at idle and 13.8 at speed. No temp gauge installed, but after a good run at 85 F ambient, no excessive heat is felt. I love the hydraulic clutch. The engine has a LOT more pop than the 04 FLHTPI 88 twin cam I owned previously. 5-speed trans shifts fine; no primary noise.
I look forward to learning about and enjoying this bike and am grateful for the information I have found here.
Appreciate any comments or advice!
