That's a lot of money, fancy bits & weight to go down graded dirt roads and mud puddles that any other vehicle can do!  Hey don't get me wrong its kind of cool but I've ridden my CVO on worse roads around Valley of the Gods then those roads pictured.  Don't need another expensive bike to do that, also that bike is not suited of roads / trails not pictured.  Market?

I have ridden my CVO's on some pretty crappy gravel / dirt roads in CO and WY.  That is a lot of why I got my Pan America.  I have ridden my PAS on four high mountain Passes in CO, I do not believe I could have done any one of them on a touring CVO.  I have had my PAS in some nasty stuff, took two people to get it out and theirs too. The PAS is much more enjoyable to run down dirt roads, gravel roads, fire roads and trails than a touring bike.  Mine does have battle scars on the engine guards, swing arm and skid plate.

Normally, if I am running off road, I take the side cases off.  They don't do well in a tip over.  I only leave them on if I an camping over night off road.  These bikes are fantastic on road.  Great power, great suspension, great handling.  Other than the Sportser S with the similar motor, its the quickest, and fastest and smoothest riding and best handling Harley out there.  On my way home from Salida CO, I did back to back 750 mile days on the bike after 4 days of off road riding out there.

PanAm is 659lbs running order, a lil more with a pudgy guy.  :drink:

I use to have a yahama TY 250 that I'd take anywhere. Trials bike is not a fair comparison though. My yamaha 360 tractor was though.

I'll have to admit a CVO PanAm is doing it with class. Just bring some camp shoes for relaxing.   :orange:

That's kind of my point, they are to heavy & pretty to use as intended, hence the demo pics on nice roads.  Hell one drop over (which will happen) is big dollars and that's after big dollars buying the dam thing!  Heck the paved roads around here are worse than the ones in the demo pics.  But as I have said in my previous post I kind of like it.

It's a good looking bike for sure.  Best thing about the adventure segment (for me who buys used) is how quickly they depreciate.  I'll find one in 5 years that has no miles for $10K.

Good point. However, before I buy another Harley I'd like to see at least 75% of them go at least 70k miles without having problems.  You know what I mean, crank runout, valve train and cam shaft issues, bearings, compensator all that.  I know it's a new design, but still for that amount of money I'd like to see Japanese dependability.

Been a while guys... been slack on checking in here my apologies. This bike IMO is the coolest thing to come out of the MOCO in quite a while, if I can find some other riders around me I'll take the plunge.

I saw the CVO Pan America in person yesterday.  Wow, it is a very sharp bike, metal flack in black is very good, red also has flake in it.  The price point on it is very good.  I did the math, when you take my 21 Pan America Special and add the cost of everything I added which is on the CVO my bike is only 2300 dollars less.  My PAS is about 1K less then a 2024 PAS.  So if your looking at a 24 PAS, and going to add hard bags, fog lights, quick shift, skid plate, muffler guard and so on the CVO is only 1K or so more, which is in my opinion a good deal.  If I were buying a Pan America today, it would be the CVO.

My 23.5 CVO is not a good deal, its way over the price of a new road glide.

So, I've been off the CVO website for about 3 years since i sold my 2006 CVO Ultra and have been riding a BMW R1200GSA as a second bike from 2010 to 2019 when I then traded for a 2019 R1250 BMW GSA. I love "Adventure" riding both on and off road, having done a Continental Divide ride in 2019 from Montana to New Mexico with about 75% of it offroad, and going about half way down the Baja Peninsula in 2020. Having seen the Pan America and test riding it a few times since it came out in 2021, it looked like Harley really put a lot of work into coming up with an advanced Adventure Bike to compete with BMW's 40 years of experience with the GS/GSA's.  Anyway, I've put over 80,000 miles on the two BMW's and decided to make a move back to Harley and got the 2024 Pan America CVO about 3 weeks ago.  I've still got my GSA wanting to compare them to make sure I was happy with the Pan America but I can tell you as of now, I really like it.  A new BMW 1300 GS today goes out the door for about 30K and I paid about that out the door for the CVO.  I'm happy with the choice so far.

Conflagrations on the CVO Pan America.  I hope it treats you well.  Its a great looking bike.  If you buy a regular PAS and add bags and all the stuff on the CVO you are less than 1K from the cost of the PA.
