Unidentified Transmission Object
« on: June 24, 2007, 08:56:47 PM »

I noticed this value on my 07SE transmission and was wondering what is it and what's its purpose? Also, is it missing a plug or cover or something? Can anyone help me?

That's the bleeder valve for the hydraulic clutch actuator. Some have rubber caps, some don't. If you ever have to bleed your clutch line, make sure it's dry inside. Otherwise, don't worry about it. Hoist! 8)

One reason to keep the cap on. Your bike should have come with it to keep moisture out. I just checked my Parts Manual and it doesn't show a part number. You may want to check w/your local dealer next time you are there to see if they have one.

Check the HELP section at a local auto parts store.  There's often some little boots in among all those red carded parts.

This bleeder cap is in the SE parts book with a part number.  I've replaced it several times and I keeps falling off.  I will post the part number tonight when I get home.

Don't screw up the small bleeder screw though.  Not available as a seperate replacement part.  You must purchase the entire actuator cover assembly to get a new one! :'(

Wow!!!!! :vrolijk27: Talking about H-D markup (prices below from Chicago H-D website)...

43817-02      CAP, BLEEDER SCREW   Retail Price:$2.85
                                                  Our Price:$2.28

I think I'm going to take mines off and go to Lowes/Home Depot/Etc and see if I can find a similar cap there.

Yeah D00d, go in to Lowes and find some little sales clerk girl.  When she asks what you're looking for telling her you need a rubber nipple cap.
