I just spoke to Rich '07. He just received his this past weekend. He tells me it has cutouts for the crashbars already. I'm calling Jenny tomorrow and confirm that it was ordered correctly. I should have it in about 3 weeks. With any luck, in time for MV! ;)

Hoist! 8)

That sounds positive Howie.  They might have learned from all the SEEG seat shells that had to be recut and just made all touring models with notches.  Either that or SERK seats use a pre-existing blank as their base that had notches to begin with.  Either answer works for you though.

Thanks Terry.

One more silly question.  Will my OEM backrest work with the Corbin or do I need to order theirs?  I know theirs would look better but I don't use mine unless I am on a all day ride and then take it off when at destination.

The Corbin backrest mounts are integral to the seats.  The rest will come on and off with the seat.  Stock backrests not only won't work, you'll also need to remove the backrest's fender mounted bracket under the stock seat for the Corbin seat to set down.

As Don mentions above, your stock backrest will not work.  To maintain the integrity of the look of the seat, I opted for the solid backrest and not the Oval.  IMO, the Corbin backrest is MUCH better than the stock.  It only takes an allen head wrench and about 1 minute to remove...much easier to remove than wrestling with the stock backrest with your hand stuck down in the hole.

I am rather dissapointed that whenst a chance to proceed to the gutter is not taken by a senior member, us newbies must in some ways only imagine the lost potential,  acchhem... but I digress.   :P

Thanks again.  I missed Don's quote.

I may be worth the $ not to have to fight with the OEM model!

The OEM backrest was a big PITA to get in and out of the holes available.  The Corbin just has one square rod attached to the BR that fits into a receiving orfrice built into the seat, and an inch or so screw to hold it in place and adjust the position.

Geez...what do you guys want for a set-up?   ;) ;D

Mike, some of the brethren may have chosen to be and not step up the plate it should not be said that all of our efforts here are so benign.  Terry posted after I'd left.  So, although belatedly, I'll try not to let a brother down.

That being said and valor on the line; here goes:

It only takes an allen head wrench and about 1 minute to remove...much easier to remove than wrestling with the stock backrest with your hand stuck down in the hole.

Well TC.  Not everyone would be so brave to admit a head named Allen was on their mind nor only one minute was spent when that's where their hand was!
