Harmon Kardon Nav CD
« on: May 11, 2008, 02:50:30 PM »

G day all,
Does any one in Canada have the Harmon Kardon Navigation radio?  just found out my 2007 US Cd does not include Canada and was wondering what part Number your disks my be.  Checked for updates at the dealers yesterday and they were clueless all they could tell me was the new US version disks now have an A after the part number so they ASSume something changed but do not know, the parts book says the 2008 us CD has limited use in Canada.
any suggestions?  being in a border town I would like to explore more of Canada.

Thanks All
Mike

My package of 3 CDs is Version 2, H-D Part No. 76472-06A U.S. CD1 is US West and, in Canada, covers BC, Alberta, Manitoba and Sasatchewan. I'm not sure how detailed the coverage is. I use a Zumo instead.

I hate to say this but don't waste your time on the factory nav system. It is all but useless. Get a Garmin (or some other). I will sometimes use mine for a compass.  :-X

Well, I have now put 700 miles, just did the MDA dice ride today and I have to disagree. So far I like the unit. I did spend some time 'playing' with it .

I'd have to second that. The factory nav is like . . . junk, unless you just need to find a dealership. I might use it for backup in case my Zumo 550 bites the dust. But.....only until I get another Zumo.

h-d is not interested in making the owners happy...they are only interested in how much money we will spend on things that will break so they can make still more money once everything is out of warranty

Huh!  It even has the wrong location completely for a couple of the dealerships I've tried to use it to find!

My only complaint with this unit is its lack of memory, Having to insert the discs every couple of days so that it can find where you are is a pain. Other than that I think its a clean usable solution.  I usually use it to race with. its pretty accurate at showing arrival times so you can speed up or slow down to get somewhere on time
Cheers

Do any one know how to change the "Home?"  I put the CD in and pulled up a location.  It came preprogram with a city in Michigan as the home, I live in Texas.  I followed the instruction on how to change the "Home" city/state but, not luck.  It seem to work otherwise.  So far, it is only good for a compass.  Any suggestion on how to change the "Home" location?

Wow, I'm honored, I think ???....They don't all have to be virgins.  I'd actually preferred a couple of seasoned veterans in there so they can teach the virgins the proper way.  ::)

Well.....   ok.  For a newly minted EBCM we always try to oblige.  But I can't guarantee they won't look a lot like me and Spiderman's twin sisters if we had twin sisters.
