SERT Closed Loop Bias Tables
« on: May 18, 2008, 06:44:15 AM »

Sorry if this is a stupid question, guys.

I've changed (not without some unexpected difficulty, and associated unexpected expense!!  :( ) from the TMAT to a SERT.   With a long summer trip looming, to places much hotter and higher than here, I didn't want a repeat of last Summer's experience with the TMAT making the motor ping louder than I've ever heard pinging before.

No, I've got the roll-yer-own SE A/C, and the SE Mufflers, so map 94 is the ideal one.  But bearing in mind this is a 110, I read elsewhere that you should set the values in the Closed Loop Bias Tables to max.  That slightly assists getting the A/F ratio a little richer, I believe.  (I've had a Head Quarters Pro Tuner on order for a couple of months, which should solve the problem, but the arrival of stock keeps getting put back.....)

My question:  Is that every single value in both the front and rear tables to be set to max (798 from memory...)?

And, if I might, a second question, less important; with the SERT, you can enable or disable HD's kludge of shutting down the rear cylinder when it gets too hot.  A good idea to enable, or a better idea to disable??

Thanks gurus!  :2vrolijk_21:

Yes you can max out ALL the CLB tables and that will drop your target AFR to about 14.1-14.2.

That is the heat managements system.  It does more than just shut down the rear cylinder if it gets too hot.  It is hard to say what YOU should do.  If you have time before your big ride, enable it and ride the bike in hot weather and see how it effects you.  Obviously heat managements on air cooled engines when they get too hot can be a good thing.  Depending on the ride and availability of a computer or laptop, Bring the SERT with you so you can change it or other parameters if need be.

Thanks Springer - all values maxed out.

Jim

That was actually 79-80.  I was just trying to give British college system a shot (staying away from home).  I wanted to go to R.G.I.T. but the Mrs. M.T. got elected and screwed it up for all foreign students.  Tried to get a job on a rig, ended up tending bar at Aberdeen Petroleum Club  :drink:
It was too damn cold and damp so I moved to France.  60s life style in the 80s   :hippy: :hippy: :hippy:
Then I grew up and realized "No where like home" where you can Hunt, fish have a beer and RIDE.
One of these days I'm going to pack a take a ride through northern Switzerland and Austria.   :2vrolijk_21:
