Sissy Bar/Rack Bags
« on: October 07, 2008, 02:42:55 PM »

I've got to purchase a bag for the new bike to use for 2-10 day trips...one that goes over the sissy bar and will rest on a luggage rack, much like an RK, etc.  I'm looking at the Road Ready, 'cause I had one of their TP rack bags on the SEUC and it worked well, was waterproof, etc.  I've looked at the Kury Gran Tour big a$$ed bag, glanced at T-Bags, Saddleman, Nelson Riggs, etc.

It's got to hold stuff for two people.  The saddlebags on the new bike are about 3/4 the size of hard bags on an Ultra, to give some idea of storage already on board, so the heavier stuff will go in them, like tools, shoes, etc.  This bag will mostly be clothing and stuff we need to get to on the road.  Easy to carry, or roll type luggage would be nice too.

Ideas, recommendations will be appreciated.

Terry, check out SAC. They also make em for HD. I've used the one that goes over the passenger backrest for years. You can sit it on the rear rack or reverse it and sit it on the pass seat when Diva's not with ya! I like their stuff. ;)

Howie took the words out of my mouth.... (or away from my fingers).... all my bags are SAC.  You can buy water resistant bags with waterproof liners.  I have had mine for about 5 years and they are still in great condition.  If fact, they even weathered my accident with the deer at 80 mph with minimal scuffing.   :2vrolijk_21:

I like my T-Bag route 66.  It comes with a outer rain cover.  Never had anything get wet in it.  It also has wheels and a handle that extends.  Wife and I can take a 6 day trip together with that one bag and the small fatboy saddle bags

I use space bags in my saddlebag lugage, I can fit 7 changes of clothes in one saddlebag. It amazes me that when you open them the wrinkles go away. Whatever type of bag you get, try the space bags with it. They are also waterproof ( extra protection ).

Are those the bags you suck the air out of with a vaccum?  I've always wondered what you do after you open them and don't have a vaccum handy.  Maybe there's another way?

Some good bags ya'll are recommending...keep it coming!

>>>There are ones you can roll to expell the air.  They don't get as flat as the vacuum ones, but still helps.

I love my Road Ready Bag. You can't beat their warranty. If they have a bag you like you can't go wrong.

No vacuum needed, just roll them from the bottom and it expells the air.
Looks like a wrinkled mess, but theres where the magic comes in to play.

I found the medium and large are best, extra large tooo big although they may fit in the
Sissy bar bags.

Did you get them from Spacebags.com?  They've got a special on their internet site...just wondering if there's a special kind or something...

I got the first set at a store in the mall that sells everything sold on tv. About the same price, no S&H.
I have also ordered from the tv and web site whichever has the best deal.
I now have 6 sets from small to closet size.

I'm not sure if I should thank you for this or not....now the BSR will carry the same volume of clothing, but the density will be more like lead... ;)
