Today I disengaged the system just to try it. As described above the cruise light does change from green to red. It was nice to be at a stop and hear / feel the engine behave the way I expect.

Once disengaged, does it stay that way or does it reset to engaged once you've shut the bike down?  My 09 SEUG appears to reset back to engaged each time I shut it down.

It's ALREADY so hot in Houston I'm enjoying the cylinder kill.  When I heard about it I thought it couldn't really make that much difference, but now I'm finding myself rolling the throttle forward before I even come to a stop so it will turn on as soon as possible.

Please note that you are not engaging the EITMS system by rolling back the throttle every time you come to a stop. When the engine is running all that does is disable the cruise control, if you are using it.

The EITMS system can only be managed when the kill switch is in the run position with the ignition switch on and the engine not running.

It stays in whatever "mode" you leave it in.

Doesn't the parade mode get engaged if at a stop you roll the throttle back after full off, check your throttle without the bike running, you should find that there is small amount of roll back from its normal off position. I thought this was to engage the parade mode. If you come up to a stop and don't roll the throttle back to this parade mode position I don't think the engine will go into parade mode unless the engine is too hot.

I asked our mechanic at the dealership about this.He said i shouldnt push throttle forward cause it will break something inside of the throttle by wire.He said its enabled automatic and when u give a little amount of gas second cylinder is enabled. It works exactly like he said. :drink:

Folks, you need to read your owner manuals.  Strangely enough, very often there is some useful information in those suckers. ;)

The "parade mode" (Engine Idle Temperature Management System) is not activated by rolling the throttle back when the engine is running and you come to a stop.  The system is either turned on or turned off by following the protocol in the manual with the key on and the engine not running.  Once engaged, it is an automatic feature that shuts down the rear cylinder only when all the conditions programmed into the system are met:  zero throttle, zero speed, engine temperature above the threshold, etc.  If you're on a ride and decide you either want to turn the system on or turn it off, you will need to pull over, shut the engine down, and then follow the instructions once again.

BTW, this is a big improvement over the original setup, which required you to have the dealer download a new calibration to the ECM if you wanted to either turn it on or turn it off.

ETIMS = ENGINE TEMPERATURE IDLE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Noted the blip on the throttle prior to roll on-The first few times I rolled on the throttle when the ETIMS was enabled, I stalled it- and the folks behind me almost drove into me- its a little dangerous if you dont know what to expect.

Just tried it and got a green cruise light.  Does that mean it was disabled and I just enabled it?
