My father was a 30 year Marine, retired as an E-9.  I did my time in the USAF since I was an aircraft mechanic.

The reports of our Birthday are greatly exaggerated...  

Monday is the spectacular event, 10 Nov 75 - in Tun Tavern, Philadelphia PA.

But thanks for the thanks!  Know Beaufort must be humming like Jacksonville is, Marines in Blues, Mess Dress - hot looking girlfriends and wives in ball regalia, dressed to the 9's.  Tomorrow night is our celebration, get to put on my Mess Dress and enjoy an evening of camaraderie with my fellow Tuefelhunden, Jar Heads, Leathernecks, Gyrenes, Hard Chargers - you choose.

Great time to be a Marine!

In this area the Marine Corp Ball is held at one of our big Indian casinos and its quite a sight to see these young men in their dress blues escorted by young ladies in cocktail dresses...very formal and probably one of the biggest events in their lives. To see this event every year makes me proud to be a Marine.  Doc

I don't care who you are, or what brand of service you are in you have to admit a Marine in dress blues is the chit!!! No question... period. One of the reasons I joined was how sharp/unique that uniform is. Never did I know that they would bust my @$$ at/in boot camp so it would look good on me.
