At least now the dealers (techs) will be familiar with the install process for those (of us) that don't want to drill on their TP's. :nervous: If the mess the paint up they replace/repair versus me messing it up and :bigcry:

Not sure why the fitment restriction to 06 and newer.  The billet hinges that so many of us have used have been installed on new and older than 06 bikes without issue.  Those we've been using have cost more than what Harley is listing there.  But I think they also look much better than what Harley is showing there.  Bigger and more robust.  Better proportioned to the lid.

Amazing!  I received an e-mail from someone at the Harley Winter Dealer meeting around 10:03am telling me about these hinges and by 10:12 am wenchal has already posted this info on the forum.  This forum is better than any news channel around...talk about getting the news to print right away.  I sent him back an e-mail to let him know that it's already posted on the forum followed by discussion and that he's got to get up pretty early to beat this group to the punch.

Anyway, from glancing at them, I think I like the design of the ones we already have better.

Check out the new 25284-08.  It's a complete kit for cam plate, oil pump and the new chain tensioner swap out.  Compared to Feuling or other alternatives for just pump and cam plate it's a bargain too.

Can't help but smile a bit.  We've done hundreds of billet hinges.  Now HD offers them.  Another common thread here is cams and cam changes.  Several have bought the tools to do it themselves.  Now the mothership has cam change tools in the P&A list.  Competitively priced with George's Tools too.  The oil pump, cam plate and tensioner combination package is a very direct challenge to aftermarket competitors also.

HD may not be quick enough to get to the market first with good ideas.  But they certainly can watch what others are doing and plagia...   ummm.... steal get comparable offerings to market in a year or two.

If it's working, it sure is processing slow.  It may be deluged with traffic.
