Is the Road Glide Dead?
« on: March 31, 2009, 12:47:26 PM »

I just got a call from a friend who sells Harley's at our local dealership and they just received word from the Motor Company that 2009 will be the LAST year for Road Glides!  (Say it ain't so!) :soapbox:

Anyone else hear this?

Gave up trying to second guess the Motor Company a long time ago.  The MoCo and logic often seem to go together with the same effectiveness as do power saws and fingers (i.e., a little roughly).  So who knows what they're going to do.  Just know I've got the 2000 triple red SERG I'd wanted for a long long time, actually have it pretty much the way I want it already and what the MoCo does just doesn't interest me very much.

ill believe it when i see it. none of the dealers around here can keep a road glide se or not on the showroom. even the standards are gone when they hit. just my .02 cents but i think they will keep it.

I think it'll continue with a different flair.  Or.........they'll stop it in 2010 and come back a year or two later (to retool) with something over the top. :nixweiss:  The Road Glide isn't a favorite of mine but it is a popular model.......especially the 09 SERG.

I posted in another section that the Street Glide just became the highest selling touring model, a couple of weeks ago.  But that information hasn't seem to have trickled down the the dealerships just yet. :nixweiss:

From my point of view, I have what I want. I am not in the market for at least two more years. So 2010/2011 - Moco do what you like! BUT, If they'd do a tricked out CVO Softail Deluxe, I might change my mind ;-)

Ride safely,

Looks to me like it will just come in full dress with a different letter designation...only the R will be dropped and not the line.  Doc

the road glide is one of those bikes that you either luv it or you hate it! The standard rg want was not in the european sales fleet so maybe my view is a little distorted as we have only seen the few SERG models.

Harley is making a mistake if they drop the Road Glide.

Back of both local dealer where the mechanics park, most the touring bikes are Road Glides.  At one most the Saleman also ride road glides too.

While active in HOG I attended a leadership training program.  During the event HD management did a slide show of the corporate officers and their rides.  You guessed it, many had RG.  They know at least what we know about this bike.  Don't worry it will be there in some form or another.
