Installing the SE Heavy Breather question
« on: May 03, 2009, 01:45:21 PM »

Since I've never put one of these on before, the instructions give you an option and I don't know which way to go and why.  It says:

"If desired, the induction module cover (2) and the gaskets (1) do not have to be installed.  Install gasket (19) instead of the induction module cover and gaskets and discard then."

The induction module cover is black and you will see a lot of it.  So, why would I need this?  Thanks!

On my SERG there is an electrical plug that goes into the throttle body (I believe) and that plate covers that up. I dont think all bikes have that electrical connection that is why the option is there. You can also get that plate in chrome. Look at the directions in the part break down and it lists the part number for black and one for chrome.

Harley does not make that plate in chrome. ( That`s what they told me ), so i took mine to a plating co and had it chromed, $20.00 . You can buy one stock black for $18.00 take it to get chromed, then when it is done put it on. No down time

I had heard the same thing. Then I was getting quotes for 45 dollars to get it chrome plated. I was just getting ready to send it out and I was reading the directions and there is a parts list on the back and they had it listed there. The part number is 29009-08 chrome throttle body cover. I ordered from Zanottis and got it for around 17 dollars.

So does the chrome one you got look good?

I may just have to order that, I was planning on having the black on chromed over the winter, but this idea sounds better

Curious about the chrome plate — wondering if you ever received one from Zanotti's. Meanwhile, what's the part number for the black plate? I just had the heavy breather installed and man is that plate an eyesore!

I just painted mine to match the engine paint. (Dupli-Color DSFM 225 Med. Charcoal) Looks better IMO than black.

Yes, if I could have purchased some Granite paint locally, I would have.
The (Dupli-Color DSFM 225 Med. Charcoal) is a very, very close match.
Larry, could you post the HD part # for the granite paint.

OK guys, I received my package today from Zanotti's and the part arrived in black and not chrome. I went and looked at the directions for the SE Heavy breather where I got the part number and that part number 29009-08 is listed as chrome and 28890-09 is listed as black. I have emailed Zanottis and am waiting for there reply. I also have attached a copy of the directions so you all can see the part number that i used. It is part 2 in the description. I will keep you updated with whatever I find out.
