Computer internet question
« on: May 30, 2009, 12:00:32 PM »

How do I post a link without having the whole URL address posted? I see it many times where all there is a CLICK HERE in blue and it hyperlinks to whereever the link is as opposed to seeing the HTTP/URL/WWW browser address.

Thanks

You somehow screw up the post a little bit and then let Dood do it for you. It's a compulsion.

Or.....

Click quote on this post and you'll see the following's full text string.

When you see that that address could be any URL and the "Click Here" text could be any text you wanted.  Obviously the URL in the example is just made up because he never really rides :huepfenlol2: .

Guys I'm not understanding that. I clicked on the Click Here, and it led me to some generic RoadRunner page and not instructions on how to do the link.

Yes, because it's just a made up URL.  You need to click on "quote" as if you're going to quote that post.  Doing so will display in the quote box the entire text of the post including the string you're wanting to see.

Mark,
Here is the code below in the grey box...

Code: [Select]
Link
Where it says "URL goes here" that is where this goes - http://www.cvoharley.com

Where it says link that's where the name of the link would go - CVOHarley

So it would look like this - CVOHarley

And this is what is hidden...

Code: [Select]
CVOHarley

Don't use the code tag. I did that only so you can see the code. If you take what you have in the code (grey) box and put it in your post it will look like this - Click Here

Sorry I thought you were speaking of how to have hidden URL's in this forum.

What program are using to build your website? It should allow you to insert hyperlinks by typing what you want to call it... example: "click here", then highlighting "click here" and insert a hyperlink that will be hidden. Go to help in the program you are using and search for hyperlink and it should tell you how to do it.
