Hey Guys,

 Just wonder Can one take the stock 110 S.E. Cyls. and bore them out with some pistons from Zippers etc... and go over size, Just wonder what would be the biggest one can bore out to and what size engine would it be now?

The reason the P&A book says that HD 113" kits aren't for use on motors that have previously been HD 110" is because the 110" has a groove machined for the oil ring on the bottom of the cylinder and the 113" uses a metal gasket.  Therefore you will have less area for the gasket to actually seal.

Jim's engines have proven to be hit or miss on reliability. I have seen more than a couple 120's grenade due to lifter failure. Jim's warranty covers the repair, but they want you to return the engine and rebuilds are taking well over four months to return. Shipping and labor for the R&R the responsibility of the owner.

Jim’s had some big trouble with their “Powerglide” lifters. Jims also supplied Screamin’ Eagle branded lifters to H-D that were problematic. There were more than a few H-D engines that soiled the nest as a result of an SE tappet failure.

The latest Powerglide lifters provide direct lubrication for the tappet rollers, and should be more reliable. The late style Powerglide lifters in my 131 were noisy, so I replaced them with OE pieces. I ran this Jims engine for just over 10,000 miles this year. I’m having so much fun that I’m going to change the oil and run it again next year.

Glad to hear of your positive experience with the 131. When my friend's 120" grenaded last April, he sent it back to Jim's under warranty and they offered to rebuild the 120 for cost or to build it as a 131. He opted for the 131 which included pinning and welding the crank and Dave Mackie heads. I was surprised that they offered those two options directly. The motor didn't come back from Jim's until last month and it's currently at Zipper's for ThunderMax dyno tune. I hope he is as happy with his as you are with yours.
