09 SERG rear tail lights
« on: December 10, 2009, 08:37:08 PM »

Can anyone tell me how to wire up tailights on my 09serg to pulse the brakes. I have a wire harness from Kuryaken on my 05 roadglide that pulses the rear brake lights 3 times before turning solid.Kuryaken does not make a harness for the 09serg.Is there a product out there that is direct fit?

I got something from custom dynamics for my ultra. Plug and play I think it's called street magic brake light flasher , I was not expenses maybe 30.00 Just plug it in and it does what you describe.

Works with LEDS or incandescent bulb. Simple plug and play installation on  '99 and newer H-Ds. Sealed weather resistant case, 5 year warranty, compact size. Max power capacity 48 watts.

You need to Purchase a Backoff WIG-WAG module. Then wire into the rear stop light circuit.

the units themselves go bad, when i get a customer thats having electrical/lights issues, i pull the seat and disconnect the flasher and no more problems

Are there different types, manufacturers, of these units?  Is it just one type that is causing problems, having failures?

I tried the Kuryakyn trailer wire harness with the isolator box, lasted about no time and had to cut the box out of the unit.  I have found units with little black boxes fail frequently and are not worth the money, you are better off to figure out how to hard wire any of your lights in, LED or Incandescent.

I used a Radiantz strobe to flash mine, It has several settings with dip switches to control which one you use. I currently have three strobes (Blinding flashes) then solid for a few seconds then repeat. It WILL get your attention. Radiantz.com has the strobe, you will need a male and female molex connector and the pins for these plugs that you can get from Harley. Strobe was about $35. You can also get it from Custom Dynamics, I made up plug in to keep from piercing the wiring harness, Custom Dynamics installs them with taps. Either works, just mine looks factory.
