What did you do with your decorative key?
« on: June 18, 2010, 04:11:59 PM »

What do you do with the brass key that H-D gives out with the CVOs?  It's sorta cool but for the life of me, I can't think of anything to do with it other than toss it in a drawer.

My sarcastic son told me to get a gold chain and hang the key around my neck as a Mister T starter kit.

Seriously, what good are these things?  :nixweiss:

Actually I have seen many a Mr T impersonator, and if you do happen to loose your keys you will always have a spare one with you!
I have only seen a few guys who actually used the gold key as there main set

Yep.. I'm a drawer guy. My bike covers are still in the plastic bags also. I use my old ones if I cover them at all.

Assuming they gave you the right key, it actually does fit the bike and is thus a real spare key.  Mine is tucked into the junk drawer with all the other spare keys (some of which I'm quite certain belong to stuff I haven't owned in decades).  If it was actually gold, it might be worth making into a necklace I suppose.  Since it's just brass, odds are body oils will just make it tarnish that much quicker.

BTW, leave it to those purveyors of BS in Milwaukee to call a brass key a Gold Key.

Then I'd have to brush up on shutting off the alarm- no FOB present.

Mine went in a cabinet that has a bunch of memorabilia I've collected over the years.

Mine went in the "junk drawer" with all my other pins, patches, etc.
Someday my kids will wonder "where the hell did he leave the bike that this key fits!"

Mine is on my daily use key chain.  I figured why stick it in a drawer.  It is starting to show some wear, but it is not my goal to preserve it for the next owner of the bike whenever I decide to trade.

Is the gold key even help those that need an alarm fob?
