Have had the origional VSS out a couple of times and cleaned it but it is still acting up so tomorrow I am going to pick up a new one.  My only problem is I don't know where the other end of the wire plugs in.  I have tried to follow it (under the starter) but can't seem to figure out where it runs and connects up  :nixweiss:  being not much of a wrench, I could use a little help here fellas.(Please and Thankyou)

Marty

It's a short run Marty.  Not a big worry.  It connects up under the right side cover.

Probably a wire tie that olds it (and perhaps some other harness) to that frame tube there close to the starter.  Get it out of the tranny again and trace it back with your fingers.  When you get the new one in hand you'll exactly what the connector you're looking for looks like.

OK thanks Don  :2vrolijk_21:  I have traced it back (without cutting the wire tie yet) to a hole in the frame and it appears to connect to one of the connectors between the battery and frame.  Am I on the right path now  :nixweiss:

The right path....  When you snip the wire tie to get the little sensor harness in hand and can actually trace it you'll be fine.

That's good news Marty.  There must've been some SERG-Speedo-Karma going around too.  On the way home this evening I stopped for fuel and the odometer wouldn't reset.  All is fine but no mileage reset.  Wasn't worried.  Cheap switch.  Then during the 50 miles on home the instrument died.

Nuts.

Popped the nacelle when I got home to take a look.  Swung it up and away and there was the speedo plug staying behind.  Excellent :drink: :2vrolijk_21: .

Plugged it back in, turned it on and, whoopee, all good with the speedo.  Five minute fix instead of an expensive speedo made me happy.

Got to be the "Full Moon"  :nixweiss: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2: :huepfenlol2:  Here is another Question for you guy's...  During my ride last night my radio "disapeared" and the code d1 appeared on the screan.  I hit the power button and it went to d2, then d3, and finally the total numeric screen lit up showing all the possible info available on the screen.  I shut the bike off and when I restarted it my radio was back with no problems  :nixweiss:  Ever happen to anyone else  :-\
