Cops and CVOs
« on: August 08, 2010, 07:33:26 PM »

I got pulled over the other night for not having an operating tail light, while the young copper was all official doing the whole thing, licence, blow in the breathaliser etc the old cop just wanted to ask questions about the bike. Result, no ticket and a pleasant conversation, pays to ride a nice bike.

Got pulled over outside of Reno a couple years back. We were coming from Vegas and had been on 95 for 7+ hours, above the posted speed limit for most of them. When we started talking he said "If I saw you earlier doing that speed I would have just waved to you" "But this is a very dangerous area" we kept talking, he was a sport bike rider, and he loved the bike and wanted a bagger so he could take his wife along. Long story short, he let me off with a warning!  :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

I sure wasn't that lucky.  I was pulled over on my bike several months ago and the cop looked me and my bike over and wrote me a ticket anyway.  You were lucky, that's all. :nixweiss:

Riding along one Sunday afternoon in the great metropolis of Mascotte, Fl. A cage beat us to the end of the four-lane and then turned left. We passed on the right and crossed the white shoulder line. About 200 feet ahead a cop with handheld radar! He waved us over, did the whole license/registration thing, and then proceeded to lecture Softhog about following me while I broke the law, etc.,etc. Then called his buddy sitting in the patrol car to ask which bike to impound, her black or my orange? They agreed they already had enough black! About the time I was ready to say give us the tickey and get it over with, they both started smiling and going on about what great bikes we were riding and sent us on our way. I still mind my manners in Mascotte!

I don't know if the Big Red Hog was why he stopped me or if it was the fact that i was doing 90 mph in a 65 mph zone.  But i am thinkin' that walking around the bike and giving him some good convo was enough for him to only write me for 10 over. :2vrolijk_21: 10 over was $202 Don't even wanna' know what 25 over was!!!!!!!!

BTW, Nevada Highway 95 south between Boulder city, through Searchlight and to 163 to Laughlin is a SPEED TRAP! BEWARE! :nixweiss:
