The Harley Rep stated that I did not break in the motor correctly because I switched over to Amsoil at 1000 miles on the last new motor. He stated that I should have gone 5000 to 7500 miles on Syn 3 then switch over. Rep stated that Amsoil is to good and and thin plus handles heat but not good for the initial break-in. I am not sur I believe all that but I am going to do whatever they say on this 3rd motor.
If that's the case then they will have to provide it to you free of charge.

That was my thought's exactly. Harley is going to keep bike and do the initial 200 mile break in on the new motor. Fly Wheel is at it's max tolerance but still with-in limits so the Moco wont change the fly wheel. They only authorized rods and pistons. I guess in 6 months we will go through this all again on motor number 4.

I wouldn't want to find out.  Think I'd send that hot rod down the road.

Sad thing about sending it down the road is the poor guy who ends up with it...   :(

Then what does that say about the rest of us that switched to Amsoil at 1,000 miles (or less) and has already racked up tens of thousands of miles? :nixweiss:

I think my streetglide had 200 when I dumped the MoCo oil and went to amsoil... never had an issue...

Now.. SERG... I used the Syn3 for 1K, then went to Amsoil... wonder if they will tell me its the lack of using Syn 3 that causes the oil buildup in the cylinders?

That's exactly what they were referring to because there was a lot of carbon build-up and oil on top of the cylinders. On a motor that only had 6500 miles on it. Me Bad Rider for using Amsoil!! Being that they wont be changing the flywheel we will see this again in 6 months but I will use Syn 3 to prove them wrong.

Interesting that they are trying to lay the blame on you for switching to Amsoil at 1000 miles.  I've changed all (3 of them) the 110's I've owned (own 2 presently) from Syn3 to Mobil 1 V-Twin at 1000 miles, and haven't had a problem with any of them.  So it ain't the oil, that's for sure.
