Make sense that should be the logical next step. I’ll check the lifters, despite I can not hear a bad sound from there, but the noise is tricky in the bikes.
Thanks.

I agree with 2009_FLTRSEI3 that it is probably a lifter. I had a lifter go bad on mine and had the same symptoms as you have described. At startup it is quiet. Within a minute or so it would start to chirp. If you rev the engine the noise goes away and returns when it goes back to an idle. Checking with a stethoscope the sound was the loudest at the rocker box.
Good luck.

Pull the end of the stethoscope off of the plastic tubing.
Then use the stethoscope again "Just the open tube" probing around the exhaust joints and manifold gaskets and bolt joints.

This may seem crazy after all the diagnosis you've done, but have you checked all the chrome covers you have on the bike. A loose cover can cause the kind of sound your describing and it can even give the impression its coming from inside the engine when in reality it's not. Start by checking the brackets and clamps that attach the chrome exhaust cover to the exhaust pipe. These are notorious for making the kind of noise you're describing. Check to make sure none of the brackets are broken and that the bolts into the bracket are tight and that the pipe clamps that fasten the chrome cover to the exhaust are also tight and not broken. I would also check any other chrome covers you have had installed on the bike. Good luck.
Oh so right.....crazy you are right but this very thing that happened to me and my Harley mechanic had the right idea if I would have asked him in the first place.  It was the heat shield on my exhaust.  I was totally in disbelief when I found it.  It only happened at certain rpm's and went away at higher rpm's.
Lots of luck I do know how frustrating this is because I put up with mine for over 3 months.  May not be you problem but sure worth checking it over.

GBravo,

What's the compression pressure of front and rear cylinder?

Do you torque the spark plugs?

I had a similar chirp on my 06 Ultra. I thought for sure it was from the rear cylinder. An experienced mechanic walked around the bike, listened for a bit and put his boot on the left muffler at the rear of the bike. Chirp gone. Sprayed a bit of silicone on the rubber hanger mounting and all was good. Just a thought. Hope it's as simple as that.

It is 180 psi in both cylinders, as you know the CVO has ACR so the psi is lower at the start.
Yes, I torque and used anti-size in the spark plugs.
Thanks.

Thanks “Harlistas” (is the way that we call to the Harley buddies in South America), all are good recommendations.

I’m ready to work in the lifters this weekend
I’ll keep you posted and any other advice is more than welcome.
Thanks again!.... this is a great forum. I hope I can help to others members soon.

When my lifters failed, it sounded more like top-end versus in the cam chest.. but my failure was up front... though 3 of 4 were bad.

Be prepared though... if the lifters are bad, the cams are probably done too...

Thanks all folks (especially 2009_FLTRSEI3) for all your good recommendations. FINALLY I found the problem, It was the rear exhaust LIFTER. I attached a picture.
Now I will change the 4 lifters, probably I'll select the JIMS (I had good experience with their products in the past), also for sure I'll need to change the cams and the bearings.

Regarding the cams, I like the stock because it is quiet and provides good torque in all the RPM's, but at this moment, I am open to suggestions.
Thank you.

JIMS lifters are generally thought to be a weak link - even in JIMS motors.  I would suggest S&S lifters, Harley stock "B" lifters, or Woods directional lifters...   :2vrolijk_21:

WOW Sadunbar, thats is a nice configuration.
Thanks for the advice but the S&S tappet requires use adjustable pushrods and stocks pushrod are more reliable and light.

Does any one know why the Japan CVO use the cams 25590-07A(rear) and 24608-07A(front) and all others CVO use 25638-07 ?

Don't dismiss the stock Harley "B" lifter...  It's a good lifter also.  (superior to the JIMS, in my opinion)

Don't know why they do what they do with the Japan CV0's...   :nixweiss:

Nope - not the SE lifter.  The stock Harley B lifter - part number 18538-99B.   :2vrolijk_21:

Thoughts....

if your lifter looked like that you can kiss the cam goodbye.

I used the woods directional lifters..... no issues yet....

the discussion about lifters is LONG.....  shop wisely...

and whatever you do.. dont put stock cams in it... :)
