Considering a CVO Softail
« on: March 22, 2011, 11:20:07 AM »

Hi Everyone,

I'm so ready to buy the 2011 CVO Softail; however, I have a question. I'm concerned about the height of the fairing. I' a female, 5' 7" and weigh 125 lbs and am concerned about too much buffeting from the wind. Can anyone provide advice on his or her experiences?

Thanks a bunch

Welcome to the site, mbay  :welcome_005:  from :sunny:  sunny So. Cal.  :sunny: and the CVO gang!  :vrolijk_6:

You probably know there is no fairing on the CVO Softail Convertible.  There is a removable windshield with two audio speakers incorporated into it.  It is not meant to provide the same protection of a full fairing and winshield.  Regardless of the type of bike or windshield, you will find some think it is perfect and some complain of wind buffeting.  This seems to be dependant on height and body type (but not weight), the helmet worn, riding style (speed) and sensitivity of the rider.  From your post, it appears that you may want to consider a bike with a fairing and windshield.  It certainly seems a test ride or day rental is in order.  Good luck on your choice!

Welcome to the site from NW Ohio. Love my fat bob! :smitten: Windshield is a good idea if you're concerned with total bike weight.

Welcome to the site from Alabama, I think you should look for a nice used CVO Ultra with a batwing fairing, well balanced and will keep the wind off you.  I do agree with renting one for a day and trying it out or at least a real long test ride.  Good Luck
