Harman Kardon software update
« on: July 17, 2011, 10:48:02 PM »

For those who have, I've downloaded the two compressed files on both mac and pc. Both computers ask to search online for how to unzip files and both can't recognize upg file. What are you using to unzip update to burn to cd?

When you unzipped the download you get 2 files.  One is a *.upg and the other is a *.bin file.  It looks like up unzipped the download or you would not see the *.upg file.  Both of these files have to be burned to an iso9660 format cd.  Download the .pdf instructions and see if they help.

Does this help or did I make it worse?  I can send you the files (unzipped) if it will help.  The files are only 1.1MB.

so the two files from the download are unzipped already? Then I just burn that onto cd

I thought it was more involved than that from instructions. Said you have to download the update, then unzip files, then burn to disc.

But if its just a matter of putting the two files on disc, I think I'll be ok, try tomorrow

Good info and glad to know these are easy to update. Looks like the download from HD is zipped as per the instructions but I'm trying to find where you got them from on the site. Still learning where everything is at on the site and haven't found the software update page. I'll keep checking, I'm sure it's eluding my feeble brain. The link might even be posted on this forum.

They're probably up to date, my 08 has never been updated and there have been several changes since then

Since they say the updates insure the "system is operating at peak performance", I wonder if it will fix the cracked board that drops out the sound???? :P :-X :confused5: >:(

What exactly does the update do for the sound system?

Instructions state that software updates are available if "ST10" is v8.25.0 or older.  My 09SERG is V8.19.0.

I'm going to try the update.  Does anyone know if this is radio software only?  Shouldn't have any effect on my J&M speakers and amp???

Send a PM or email to Iron Cross Audio, a member here, and ask about the 8.25 HK update.  I don't recall the specifics of this update as explained by ICA, other than it dealt with VOX; it shouldn't have any effect on the J&M speakers or amp.

It will only effect the HK head unit's operation.
