When I researched it i found a write up (The Legend of the Bell) it said to put it on the LEFT peg/floor board.
RutRoe! Had mine on the wrong (right?) side on every bike that I have owned. Only because that is the high side and was easier for me to get to.

I don't think my Guardian Angel really cares where the bell is mounted. In fact I don't think the Angel cares if it IS mounted at all or that I even have one at all. What he does care is that I always keep him and the one he serves first and foremost.

on the front lower frame cross member with a keyring. If you believe the legend it is suppose to be mounted low.   :2vrolijk_21:

Right side front frame member. You see, Road Gremlins are all left-handed... so putting it on the right side, as low as possible, really messes them up... and they fall right off!

I have one that was given to me in 2008 on my old '95 Evo Police Special E-Glide that has worked very nicely - saved my ass in a tight spot on the highway last year when an IDIOT in a Tahoe jumped into my lane without warning to make a left turn from the RIGHT lane. Well, that and the big 4-pot front calipers!

I'm still waiting for my current riding group to gift me with one on the new '12 CVO SG... hope they don't wait too long... but it's bad luck to ask for one!

Well if you gave each other one then that would solve that issue.

Some of the people I used to ride with used goat bells. You could hear them things rattling when you rode behind them. I think they just started putting them on their bikes because they saw someone else do it. I asked one guy if someone gave it to him for luck and he said no. I have a brass one on my 99 that my Grandmother-in law gave me.  It has done well for me.
