Some of the people I used to ride with used goat bells. You could hear them things rattling when you rode behind them. I think they just started putting them on their bikes because they saw someone else do it. I asked one guy if someone gave it to him for luck and he said no. I have a brass one on my 99 that my Grandmother-in law gave me.  It has done well for me.

Yeah... but if you get a loud enough bell, it will drown out the engine noises...  :drink:
