TTS 13.1 AFR setting
« on: August 27, 2011, 10:44:40 AM »

So to set your AFR to around 13.1, this translates to a Lambda value of .892. Would you set this value for all RPM's and all kPa's?

I frequently set idle and full throttle areas to 13-1 AFR for heat control and peak HP. The mid range throttle settings, where you spend the majority of the time,
may serve you better at around 14.5 for fuel economy. Cruise AFRs in the 13s will drop your milage down to the low 30s pretty quick.

Thanks Steve. I run your x pipe and map, I just have a different muffler system. I was thinking of making it a little richer, but I understand the logic in your map now.

My tune (with a ProSERT) is 14.1 from 1500 -- 3500. 13.6 @ 4,000 and 13.3 up to 5,000. 13.9 @ idle.
With only the tune, CAT removed from stock header and 2.0" Fullsac baffles, this gives me 89.7 hp and 104 ft lbs. Over 100 ft lbs from 2700 up.

These are the target AFRs used by my dealer. We're at about 5300 feet of elevation, don't know that makes a difference in targets. Runs great up here, like a beast at near sea level.

We must be using the same dealer (High Country).  Your tune is exactly the same as mine.  I also have the Pro SERT with Vance and Hines header and Monster Rounds.  End result is max power of 92.84 and max torque of 104.80.

Are you going to Thunder Mountain this weekend for Thunder in the Rockies?

Yes, it's High Country. No, no Thunder unless I get really bored. Midget wrestling and no shade. I think I'll be on Peak to Peak. I sent you a PM, we should hook up, I'm in Louisville.

I'm not familiar with the ProSERT, but doesn't the throttle position enter the equation?

I know with my John Golden tune on my PCIII, at the same RPM position, there are different trims +/- at various throttle open percentages. Further, at least on my SE Deuce, he went as high as 12.9 to extract the max HP/TQ, but in the 20% to 25% throttle range in the 2,500 to 3,000 band, I think he leaned it out into the higher 14's, perhaps as high as 14.9 for great highway economy. Rides like a raped ape, but still gets great gas mileage.
