Parts falling off already!
« on: May 15, 2012, 06:26:07 PM »

:soapbox: Not really a big deal, but i was just wondering if anyone else has had any of their gauges come loose from the fairing or fall right out?
makes wonder if this is  a quality control thing. When i got the new girl in February i found the speedo to be loose and it needed to be tightened.
Never dawned me to check the tach at that time. Today with only 1600 miles on her, out comes the tach.   :zwtf:

I kinda hoped i would get at least a few thousand miles on it before parts started falling off.  :pepper: :ROFLOL:

No problems yet but it does seem a bit early to have parts falling off. Friday afternoon job? Hopefully everything else stays bolted on!

I had a rattle in the let saddle bag and looking closer I noticed a screw sitting in the centre of the speaker  ??? took the grill off and the speaker fell into my hand  :( all 4 screws had not been tightened just sitting in the holes, torqued them up to spec and all good  :)
Checked the right side and speakers were secure with all scews torqued up but  :-X 2 rubber spacers that should have been between grill and pannier lid were sitting in no mans land. Must of fell out during assembly  :nixweiss:

I usually do a check on everything but being a CVO thought all would be assembled correctly, no big deal though and lucky I checked before any damage was done to speakers.

The right tweeter had the centre cone pushed in so out came the vaccum cleaner with a microfiber towel over the tweeter I sucked the ding out and looks like it should now  :)

Other than that its a fantastic bike  ;D

Parts falling off is a dealer installed option on some CVO's. Not everybody gets 'em.

Every time I take my bike in hd-dude says I've got a screw loose. I can only assume he's talking about the bike   :o

Harley now sells quart bottles of Blue Loctite, and you are going to need a lot of it if you want things to stay together !

I remember I spent a couple of cold rainy days tightening and replacing missing screws and bolts on my 08 SE3.  So far nothing has loosened or fallen off.

I Loctite everything !!

Another quality Union made product.

Brand new in January and it was too cold to put many miles on it. I did the break in and put it up. The next morning I noticed a small, but noticeable amount of fluid on the garage floor. After further inspection there was fluid on the kickstand, left pipe and a small drop at the bottom of the primary cover. Called the dealer and was told that "it" happens. I had them pick it up since it was a fluid leak and determined that the seal from the factory got pinched and they replaced it. I have owned 4 total bikes and only had a bearing go out on my 08 Ultra at 25k miles. Now, I got an issue with the flush mount gas cap is leaking gas after a fuel stop. Anyone else have a problem like this?

 ........almost lost the rear pillion today!  The thumb screw worked its way out.. And I always make sure it is on tight!
Good thing is that No one tried to run me off the road, so it's safe to say it didn't bounce off someones windshield.

Still wouldn't trade it :2vrolijk_21: for anything else!

Ride on..    :cucumber:

Had to take mine in for tearing my hair out to get the garage door opener to work. Found out that it wasn't even hooked up. Other than that everything is tight.

I had my saddleback locks pop off twice - replace them with the Brutus solution at 500 miles - no problems since.

Also had the exhaust bushing pop out (one under the saddle bag that allows the exhaust to flex), scared the crap out of me because my exhaust rattled to high hell at 2200rpm.  Stopped the bike immediately to see the what the issue was.  This was at about 2200 miles.

after coming from a morning ride yesterday, I found the right signal light pointing down. Not that it has fallen off, but come one buying a 30K bike, at least use some loctite  >:(
