How to trailer a Roadglide?
« on: July 07, 2012, 02:34:33 PM »

Never had my SERG in a trailer before but going to trailer to Sturgis this year due to limited time available. Friends trailer is set up with basic wheel chocks and d-rings.
Have used soft straps around handlebars on previous bikes but it doesn't look like that will work with the Roadglide.

Take a look at this video, it could be used on a Roadglide. If you got the chock you could use it in your garage too for maintenance. They sell a set of straps that work on the front and back of your bike in combination with their chalk.

Nothing special to do, especially if the chock is a good one.  I just moved my RG using strap extenders.  Probably depends a little on where the tie downs are relative to the bike.

TY, I was also curious about that. Might take mine to St Louis this year when we go play trucks. I took a few extra days off just in case we decide to. Wife won't drive the Avy that far by herself.

I take 2 nylon straps 18"-24" and loop them over the lower triple tree bracket. Then hook the tie downs to the straps. Sometimes if I have the lowers off I strap through the frame and over the engine guards.

If you are using a wheel chock what I do is strap to the crash bar in front and rear saddle bag guards in back. I've been to wisconsin, and florida hooked like that with no problems. never had to retighten after initial strapping.

Over the triple trees pulling forward into wheel chock carefull not to pinch a brake line, then strap the rear from the saddlebag guard support pulling slightly rearward

I use soft straps from both the front and rear guards along with a Bike Pro.  When Harley ships the RG's in crates to the dealers, they are tied down from the engine guard to the crate.

Ditto.  That method works well for mine too.  Hello Sturgis...

I strap mine down from the crash bar in the front and the BSR pegs in the rear, I have a 5'x8' single axle inclosed trailer with 4 d-rings...works great, (I only trailer it when I'm relocating to the next jobsite.) I have hauled it from California to North Carolina and back.....no problems!
