Warranty Work--what has been done to your bike?
« on: November 05, 2012, 08:19:45 AM »

Was curious to see if the amount of work done to my bike is excessive or the norm.  The following work was covered under warranty.  The bike is a 2011 SESG w/ around 9,500 miles.

1.  Tank replacement due to blemishes under the clear coat.
2.  Speaker replacement due to paint fade on the grill.
3.  Air intake manifolds replaced (this was an faulty diagnosis by a tech on a trip and was unnecessary).
4.  All 02 sensors failed and were replaced (this was the proper diagnosis)
5.  Antenna replaced (came loose during a ride and was gone).  Used warranty labor time to have new antenna installed in fairing and utilized credit for the replacement against the higher priced fairing mounted antenna.

1. Fairing replaced.2 dash replaced 3 cow bells replaced 4.oil cooler replaced 5. front tire replaced all the 1st month I owned the 2011 cvo street glide 3 months later amp replaced twice. All bugs gone now,but bad experience for a new bike and almost 2 months total time waiting on painted parts and amps, bad taste in my mouth on ever buying a new Harley again. It's good now but talk about frustrating on  new bike.

my 2011 cvo ultra classic  with 5000 miles has had
front fender from wheel weight come off and chipped from inside
oil cooler had a lead and was shooting oil
now in shop for a new engine- connecting rod has too much slack in it and rattles at 3000 rpm

needless to say i bought it 4 mths ago and has spent more time in shop than between my legs,
not a happy camper

Front wheel bearings

TBW wiring harness

Still needs lifter rattle and pinging at part throttle fixed.  MoCo and dealer say both are normal.

Replaced gas tank, lower dash, repaired iPod harness, repaired ignition switch, repaired loose emblem on tank, repaired chaffed wire on front fender, leaking clutch, angle of steering excessive, rattles in engine just normal... Funny my '93 Fatboy also had the normal rattle and factory/dealer had no cure, but I changed the cam bearing and noise was gone. I guess I will have to fix this one too. Maybe the factory should come watch me fix things.

2011.5 FLHTCUSE6 --
Had the tourpack light bar replaced because it had palm/finger prints under the clear coat -- this took twelve months to acually show itself, I guess it took that long for the acids in the prints to bleed through.

Muffler end caps replaced due to the chrome lifting off.

    • CVO1: FLHTCUSE7 in Electric Orange and Black Diamond accented with H-D's Big City Lights Graphics...how did the MoCo come up with a description like that?

FLHTCUSE7...ignition switch issues upon delivery and voltage regulator replaced via factory recall...other than that its been excellent.  However, I did purchase H-D's digital oil temp dipstick and in less than 6 months...it quit working.
